There are some famous journeys and holidays that just have to be made once in a lifetime. A trip on the Orient Express, a visit to the Barrier Reef, a cruise to the Antarctic. Each of us has our own dream of things that we want to do and how to explore some of this world before we die.
The trouble is, many of these iconic journeys are very expensive so it is often impossible to do them when you are young and penniless. Saving for the deposit on a house or paying the mortgage just does not allow for these luxuries in life.
Many people therefore choose to do these trips when they are retired, when they have savings in the bank or have taken money out of their equity release calculator . Now that we are living longer there are plenty of healthy years after retirement before we have to start thinking about taking up knitting or crochet!
You will see so many silver travellers abroad nowadays, making the most of their retirement and seeing all the sights in the world that they have always wanted to. Cruises, rail journeys, around the world trips - they are doing it all.
And why not? Retirement is the perfect time to see the world, when you have enough money to do it and are wise enough to really enjoy it.
